An Apparatus to Determine Air Pollutant Gas Adsorption Capability of Fabric |
|
This instrument is used for testing of treated and untreated fabric samples for air pollutant gas adsorption capability. |
STAB AND IMPACT RESISTANCE TESTER |
|
Anti riot body protectors are very essential personal protective equipment mostly used by paramilitary and police forces during riots. These body protectors, protect them against various possible threats such as attack of stones pelting, knife, petrol bomb etc. during riots. At present in India, there is no such type of tester available which can test stab (using knife, needle and syringe) and impact (stone etc) resistance property of body protectors. These properties are mainly tested using VPAM KDIW 2004, Edition 2011, standard at different foreign laboratories. The cost of the instrument is more than Rs 1.0 crore. Due to non availability of such instrument in India, these properties are excluded from the specification of body protector. However as per the requirement of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and other defense forces, NITRA has carried out development work on this direction and developed this instrument indigenously. The developed instrument has capability to test stab resistance property of body protector using three types of devices- knife, needle and syringe at difference levels energies at different angle of incident. Similarly, impact resistance property is tested using a block (like stone) at different energy levels and different angle of incident.

Smoothness Tester for Textile Sheeting Materials
|
To assess performance of smoothness property of fabric, NITRA has invented first-of- its-kind instrument to accurately measure the smoothness properties of fabrics. The instrument works in a closed chamber. Two versions of instruments are developed as per the need of customers. The first version is available for those customers who are having RH and temperature controlling facility in their laboratory. This version is having no provision for controlling temperature and RH inside the chamber. In the second version, facility of controlling temperature and RH inside the chamber is provided. |
Electronic Drape Meter Based On Image Analysis Technique
|
Laboratories are using conventional Drape meter which has several drawbacks like:
• Slow process and too much dependent on the operator
• The accuracy can get affected if there is small variation in drawing and cutting. This happens quite often.
• The accuracy of weighing can change the result (for 0.1 gm variation the DC can change by 2.5 to 3.0% absolute value)
To overcome these problems and provide accurate & reliable results, NITRA has developed electronic drape tester using image analysis techniques.
Uniqueness of this development is that results will be provided by the software in pdf format. Human error during measurement is totally avoided. Technology of NITRA Electronic Drape Meter was transferred to M/s. Dinu Technologies, Coimbatore. It has given license to manufacture NITRA Electronic Drape Meter.

This instrument is developed as per BS 5438 and is used to determine the effect of fire on textile materials in vertical mode |
Flammability Tester (As per IS 11871 Method A)
|
This instrument is developed As per IS 11871 Method A and is used to determine flammability behaviour of textile material when specimen is placed in vertical position. |
Smoke visibility test apparatus (As per UIC code 562 – 2 Appendix 15)
|
This instrument is developed as per UIC 564-2 Appendix 15 and is used to determine the effect of smoke generated on visibility. |
Fire resistant test apparatus (As per UIC code 562 – 2 Appendix 5 and 12)
|
This instrument is developed as per UIC 564-2 and is used to determine the effect of fire on various materials. |
Limiting Oxygen Index Tester
This instrument is used to determine Limiting The limiting oxygen index of textiles and plastic material. oxygen index (LOI) is the minimum concentration of oxygen, expressed as a percentage, that will support combustion of a small vertical test specimen under specified test conditions. It is measured by passing a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen over a burning specimen. This instrument is based on IS 13501. |
Toxicity Tester
|
This instrument tests the toxicity of the products of combustion in terms of small molecular species arising when a small sample of a material is completely burnt in excess air under specified conditions |
Friction Tester
|
The main feature of this instrument is that the instrument measures frictional coefficient of Fiber to Fiber and Fiber to metal |
Fabric Hand Tester
|
The main features of this instrument are that it Quantifies handle and results are formatted analytically and graphically which are easy to interpret. |
Draftometer (patented)
|
The main features of this instrument are that It can measure the drafting in a dynamic condition, simulating actual drafting conditions of sliver and rovings. The data analysis is done through dedicated software. Useful to analyse the spinning performance of spin finishes and dyed fibers. |
Dimensional Stability to Dry Heat Tester
|
This instrument is very useful to determine the effect of full garment iron (dry heat) on the dimensional stability of fabric. The instrument is based on IS 12170 (referred specification IS 15853). |
Soil Release Efficiency Tester
|
This instrument is used to determine the ability of soil release of textile material after treatment with various types of soils. The instrument is based on IS 11813 (referred specification IS 15853). |
